AI helps U.S. intelligence agencies track hackers targeting critical infrastructure

NEW YORK – U.S. intelligence officials are using AI to detect the presence of hackers attempting to infiltrate and attack America’s critical infrastructure, and to identify signs that the hackers themselves are using AI in their attacks.

At Tuesday’s conference, cybersecurity leaders discussed the burgeoning aspects of AI use by hackers and law enforcement. Rob Joycehead of the National Security Agency’s Cybersecurity Bureau, said machine learning and artificial intelligence are helping cybersecurity investigators track down digital intrusions that would otherwise be very difficult to discover.
