Google announced a number of AI-specific generation tools at the Google for India event in India. This feature includes visual results such as images and videos, as well as information about government plans.
Google announced today that users will be able to get an overview of over 100 government-sponsored schemes in India in the coming weeks. This feature provides information to users in both Hindi and English.
The search giant said it is making its Search Generation Experiment (SGE) in India more localized and visual by displaying images and videos in results. For example, if you search for ‘how to drape a saree’ you will get step-by-step instructions on different styles of draping. Additionally, the results also include videos.
The search generation experience (SGE) also lists helpful user reviews when searching for local information, such as things to do in the city you’re traveling to, the company said. For example, if you search for “Is Jaipur Fort wheelchair friendly?”, results powered by generative AI search will show you relevant user reviews.
Notably, Google Maps already marks wheelchair-friendly places and businesses on its app. The company also recently started displaying wheelchair-friendly shopping routes on its maps.
In August, Google expanded its Search Generation Experience (SGE) to India, allowing users to switch from Hindi to English without leaving the results page. At the time, the company announced that ads would be displayed in dedicated slots in search results powered by AI.
