Nov 3 (Reuters) – Billionaire and Tesla (TSLA.O) CEO Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup xAI rolled out its first AI model to select groups on Saturday. We are planning to release it. Said on friday.

This comes nearly a year after OpenAI’s ChatGPT captured the attention of businesses and users around the world, sparking a surge in adoption of generative AI technology.

Musk co-founded OpenAI, which developed ChatGPT, in 2015, but resigned from the company’s board in 2018.

“In several important ways, this (xAI’s new model) is the best that currently exists,” he posted on the X social media platform.

“As soon as the initial beta ends, xAI’s Grok system will be available to all X Premium+ subscribers,” Musk posted.

X, formerly known as Twitter, launched two new subscription plans last week. A $16/month Premium+ tier and a $3/month Basic tier for users willing to pay for an ad-free experience.

The billionaire, who has criticized Big Tech’s AI efforts and what he calls censorship, announced earlier this year that he is trying to understand the nature of the universe to the fullest extent possible, rivaling Google’s (GOOGL.O) Bird and Google. He announced that he would launch a truth-seeking AI. “Bing AI” by Microsoft (MSFT.O).

The team behind xAI, which launched in July, comes from Windows parent company Google’s DeepMind and other top AI research companies.

Although X and xAI are separate, the two companies work closely together. xAI also works with Tesla and other companies.

Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle (ORCL.N) and a self-described close friend of Musk, said in September that xAI had signed a deal to train its AI models on Oracle’s cloud.
