WASHINGTON, Oct 25 (Reuters) – U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration plans to announce a long-awaited artificial intelligence executive order on Monday, according to media reports.
The order would require “advanced AI models to be evaluated before they can be used by federal employees,” the Washington Post reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter. It would also help reduce barriers for high-skilled workers seeking to immigrate to the United States to increase the country’s technological competitiveness.
Axios also reported on invitations it obtained for a White House event scheduled for Monday afternoon and the expected order, citing anonymous sources familiar with the planned announcement.
The White House did not respond to requests for comment.
